These are the journals that we use in our family.  We have students at every end of the spectrum: high school, middle school, grade school, kindergarten, and preschool!  We have also homeschooled from the start, and as we've gone along, I have found that my kids love learning from "real" books.  I also found that the simpler the journal, the more creative they are!  This is why I leave lots of space for them to draw, rather than provide images to be colored.

History : Core Journals

Book of Centuries

History is like an intricate puzzle! Help your students develop a deeper understanding of how the pieces fit together by keeping a Book of Centuries. (all ages)

Keep one journal for years, and watch the understanding dawn in your kids eyes as they realize how history overlaps!

Core Journal

You can use a curriculum “spine” or just start with a broad topic and then follow your different interests.  For example, your family can study Colonial history.  Then move on to specifics, such as traveling to the colonies, housing, taxes, Native Americans, jobs, and politics.  If your student is fascinated by colonial jobs, let them linger over the subject for as many weeks as they can continue to journal about, and then move on.
5 pages per week.

History : Unit Studies

Study Your State

Study the state of your choice for six weeks! Heroes, villains, geography, resources, and more!

It's About Time!  Presidents, Jr.

Spend six weeks studying United States presidents. You will need to raid the library!
