Why God Is Bigger Outside

9/2/2016

Why you NEED to take your kids outside...
I really do need to spend more time in nature...
There's lots of good reasons to go outside. But somehow they just don't stick.

Outside” becomes less and less important until it slowly slips off my radar and I cannot remember the last time we had an outdoor adventure. Yikes.

But then it hit me: The real, bottom line reason I need to go outside.

God is bigger outside.

Keep reading to find out why your going outside makes God bigger...

It is easy to take our eyes off of our God
when everything we see is man-made.
  1. God is smaller indoors.  Man has always tried to fit God in a box.  Your brain will make up a warped, false idea of God in order to understand His fitting in the box.
  2. We give up control outdoors.  Inside, it is easy to put your trust in man (push a button and change the temperature!).  Outside, everything is out of your control.
  3. We see God loves variety.  Simply looking at a handful of sand shows us thousands of different bits of color and shapes.
  4. We see God cares about us.  Scripture tells us the Creator cares for every tiny little bird.  He knows about every butterfly that flits across our path.  He sees you.
  5. We see that God thinks about us!  Whenever I see a beautiful sky, I try to share it with my children.  I tell them, “Look!  God knew we would be looking right now; He painted that just for us!”
  6. God is bigger outside.  Whether you’re staring at the endless ocean horizon or tossing pebbles over the side of the Grand Canyon, you are faced with the fact that there are really, really big things out there!  How much bigger the One who created them must be!

When we go outside and fill our minds with the bigness of God, we can take our Big Father God back inside with us.
