Real Simple

Don't Stare at a Blank Page Wondering What to Write!

These journals gives you the freedom to stick with a subject for as long (or as short) as interest is maintained.  Use with your favorite curriculum (or Raid-the-Library!) for a simple and creative way to record what your student finds fascinating.  Build strong journaling habits with repetitive prompts that will help students get their narrations down onto the page.

These are the journals that we use in our family.  We currently have students at every end of the spectrum: high school, middle school, grade school, kindergarten, and preschool!  We have also homeschooled from the start, and as we've gone along, I have found that my kids love learning from "real" books.  I also found that the simpler the journal, the more creative they are!  This is why I leave lots of space for them to draw, rather than provide images to be colored.

Science : Core Journals

Book of Centuries

History is like an intricate puzzle! Help your students develop a deeper understanding of how the pieces fit together by keeping a Book of Centuries. (all ages)

Keep one journal for years, and watch the understanding dawn in your kids eyes as they realize how history overlaps!

History : Core Journals

Lower Grades

You can use a curriculum “spine” or just start with a broad topic and then follow your different interests.  For example, your family can study Colonial history.  Then move on to specifics, such as traveling to the colonies, housing, taxes, Native Americans, jobs, and politics.  If your student is fascinated by colonial jobs, let them linger over the subject for as many weeks as they can continue to journal about, and then move on.  5 pages per week.

High School

Challenge your high schooler to journal their way through history.  With a nine page template for each module, the Journal is a great place for your student to work their way through sixteen modules.  Students can record what they find most fascinating, organize their facts, sketch, color, and collect historical "artifacts".

9 pages per module. Sixteen modules.

History : Unit Studies

Study Your State

Study the state of your choice for six weeks! Heroes, villains, geography, resources, and more!

It's About Time!  Presidents, Jr.

Immerse your student in the history of the U.S. Presidency.

Faith Building & Scripture Copywork

6 Months of Guided Prayer, Devotional, and Scripture for Spending Time with God. Journaling prompts encourage daily meeting with God in Scripture, and teach simple prayer habits. Ponder Pages encourage girls to think about life issues in light of God's Word.

My girls use this to create a habit of daily seeking God in His Word, and I use it for their copywork!

This journal was designed to help my sons make a habit of reading Scripture.  Each day they read one chapter of the Bible, write down their favorite verse (copywork!), then record a prayer. Three months long.

Smaller Journals, with room for drawing, pondering, and simple coloring.

All-in-One Journals

Perfect for seasons when self-directed learning is needed (new baby, traveling, illness, low-tide schooling, and delight directed learning).  Just add books from the library and this journal will cover science, history, spelling, creative writing, and more! Choose from magenta or aqua covers.
(Does not include math!  I wholeheartedly recommend Life of Fred!)
