We all know that actions speak louder than words! You have to seek the King and serve Him daily if you want your kids to do the same!
But I'm Not Perfect! Won't My Kids Think I'm a Hypocrite?
Um... You've probably noticed, but your kids are not perfect either! So use your failures to give glory to God! Your kids need to know what a Christ Follower does when they sin, and this is your chance to show them!
- Show them how to say they are sorry. And I mean say it to them!
- When you are having trouble growing Spiritually in an area, be honest with them! (Use discretion, of course!) Whether it's your temper, or your eating habits, or your spending, or making a priority for your personal quiet time, you can talk to your kids about those things! Kids do not have the experience of years to show them that there are seasons in life, and that they will get through it if they press on! Sharing about seasons that you have gone through can really encourage a child and help them when they feel like a failure.
- Show them how to grow. Share an area God has challenged you to grow. Talk about what you are trying to change and how. You can even ask them to encourage you and help you!
